Project Abstract
DePaul Family and Community Services (DFCS) is a behavioral health clinic located in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago that offers outpatient mental health services for children, adolescents and their caretakers. DFCS serves an extremely diverse population with a wide range of service needs, but the largest subset of this population is low SES, urban youth of African American of Latino racial identity. DFCS strives to strengthen and empower families and communities through innovative, evidence-based, community-oriented services and the training of culturally competent, socially responsible professionals. The values of community, diversity, family systems and cultural competence are highly valued within DFCS, and are demonstrated through a variety of both clinic and school-based programs, including parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT), the school-based Cities Mentor Project, and art therapy.
