Abstract
Modeled after the works of Naomi Shahib Nye, Philip Graham, Kiese Laymon, and Melissa Febos, as well as others featured in “Best American Travel Essays,” this collection is focused on the impact of the context of time on place. How does the context of someone’s personal growth affect how they see and experience a place, and what stories become unlocked at certain spaces in certain moments. Some sites included are well known to tourists, but with an individualized perspective, we can see how an individual’s personal context becomes a character in the space. Larger essays are book ended by snapshots into specific places of meaning in the larger setting, providing the reader with a greater sensational journey throughout the world, as I see it.
