Pre-Conference Workshop: EyePod, Globalstar, Urban Launch, and Buoy Landings (Part 1)

Abstract
This workshop will address the new advances in low-cost balloon launches. The small EyePod All-in-One tracking and data system by NearSpace Launch simply attaches into the balloon neck and communicates with Globalstar satellites for 24/7 global coverage on the internet. Use of two small balloons for a launch ensures good linear altitude data collection for ascent and decent (no free fall). The small and low cost balloons are ideal for urban launches and long duration launches for improving the learning experience. Another EyePod option is its design to float in water as a buoy for surface monitoring and tracking or as a live ground probe in deserted regions for additional geo-learning. In this workshop, participants will build various EyePod options with the final objective to prepare for an urban launch including troposphere and stratosphere data collection and a Lake Michigan Buoy landing for surface water data collection. The final objective of the Workshop will be to understand the various ground station options for near real time data collection and tracking. Workshop cost $50/person with handouts, presentations, and sensor supplies.
