Abstract
Solitude was integral to the life of Catherine Labouré. It protected her from being known as the one who had received the apparitions for the Miraculous Medal and the Virgo Potens statue. However, solitude also caused her suffering because it delayed the fulfillment of Mary’s requests to her. This article describes aspects of Catherine Laboure’s life and the apparitions that appeared to her.
