"Two major elements distinguish the SNL bachelor's program for this discussion: its competence-based learning framework and its comprehensive system of academic advising closely linked to the educational program. SNL operates on the premises that individual learners are the primary agents of their own learning, that with assistance learners can discover how to achieve their learning goals, and that curriculum results from the interaction of individual learner experience and goals with significant domaines of competence. SNL seeks to provide an individualized learning environment that is supportive and collaborative. Its goal is competent graduates who possess the full range of specified competencies, gained either through experiences prior to SNL or through new learning, that characterize educated adults in contemporary society."
