The Saint Elizabeth Ann Bayley Seton Family Papers contains hundreds of letters, diaries, spiritual writings, and early documents related to the governance of the Sisters of Charity of St. Joseph’s and St. Joseph’s School/Academy. It also contains correspondence and writing of family members, including her children, father, husband, and sisters-in-law. The papers are in the possession of the Archives of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, Province of St. Louise, in Emmitsburg, MD.
Each document here is presented as a downloadable pdf that includes a high-resolution scan of the original material followed by a typed transcription. Documents are listed on this site in a simple running timeline ordering them from oldest to newest, with undated documents at the very end.
