Volume 16, Number 1 (2013)

Volume 16, Number 1, comprises a special theme on “Cosmic Liturgy and Latina/o Catholicism Today,” designed to engage deeper understanding of Latina/o culture and experience related to Catholic traditions. Articles tackle topics of society and faith, community organizing and historical memory, Indigenous dance hybridity, and historical struggles that brought transformative experiences. Studies consider how history is related through Mexican presence in Chicago neighborhoods, and through early 20th century diaries penned by a migrant from Texas; other articles relate a Catholic experience themed art exhibit, a study of Catholic/Indigenous culture through the columns of New Mexico writer Demetria Martínez, and community development organization; texts by a Chicana writer; and issues of community development organization.
