Volume 12, Number 1 (2009)

Volume 12 focuses on an emerging area of study, Latina/o sexualities, helping understand that sexuality is complex, diverse, and conditioned by race, class and other social factors and locations. The theme strives to dispel sweeping generalizations and recurrent stereotypes, such as Latina/os are more homophobic than other cultures. Articles discuss queer sexualities and gendered expressions, organizing the 2008 Dyke March in Chicago, gay males creating family in different locations, concepts of gender and sexuality as viewed through Brazilian films, and personal narratives on homosexuality and the impact on family.
