Abstract
Part of the failure of businesses to advance shalom can be traced to employee exhaustion. In this article, I argue for the retrieval of a broader understanding of Sabbath keeping practices, drawing on the Sabbath theology of Thomas Aquinas. I argue that understanding sabbath keeping as being primarily about the development of virtue rather than simply obedience to law makes Sabbath more attainable and more effective for transformation of workers seeking to advance shalom.
