Volume 9, Number 1 (2005)

Volume 9 collects an array of articles, personal narratives, and creative works focused on Latinos in the Midwest. Whereas the Southwest is recognized for communities of Mexican descent, and the Northeast for Puerto Rican communities, this issue brings focus to Latino communities of the Midwest, which have blossomed in recent years despite various difficulties, less supportive environments, and harsh weather conditions. Also demonstrates a measurable increase in Latino participation in politics, coalition building, entrepreneurship, and access to economic power.
