Abstract

Recognizing opportunities is the first step to achieving great things. This issue of DePaul Magazine profiles two accomplished alumni who saw an opportunity to make a difference and seized it. Business alumnus George Ruff saw firsthand the tragedy of homelessness and decided with his wife, Tanya, to support what is now the George and Tanya Ruff Institute of Global Homelessness. Law school alumna Karyn Bass Ehler, concerned about efforts to reduce the number of COVID-19 cases, moved from corporate law to general counsel of the Illinois Department of Public Healh. This issue also looks at the work of several professors who are using cutting-edge technology to address social justice and health inequity issues.
