Abstract
Business school alumna Bushra Amiwala, a Pakistani Muslim, may have lost her 2018 primary election to the Illinois' Cook County Board of Commissioners, but she won her 2019 bid to be seating on the Skokie (Ill.) Board of Education. She is the youngest Muslim elected official in the country and part of a growing trend of elected women of color that includes Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.
