Abstract

Mark Elder describes the history and technique of Yvaral’s Portrait of Saint Vincent de Paul. The only things Yvaral used to produce the portrait were aluminum fins and light. The technique inspired Elder to create his own work of public art in Chicago, The Mandatum. He explains how it was made.
