Abstract
Details of Frederic Ozanam’s student life are drawn from his correspondence of the time. These include his reaction to Paris, his social sphere, his studies, his activities, and the development of his moral and political thought, although he stayed out of political events. The formation and early works of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul are described. A significant section of the article is devoted to Ozanam’s childhood.
