Volume 4, Number 1 (2000)
Volume 4 pays special tribute to the thousands of Latinas and Latinos who have served with distinction and courage in the U.S. armed forces and are often omitted from historical accounts. Articles and personal essays rinden homenaje (pay homage) while revealing the darker realities of these servicewomen and servicemen: racism, underrepresentation, salary disparities, and minimal opportunities for rising through the ranks. Also includes articles on the environmental and ecological damage caused by the U.S. military occupation of the island of Vieques and the oral histories of colonized Indigenous peoples of the Caribbean.Articles
